Autozone testing

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had a short in my Porsche and testing showed it was outside of the fuse box. I took the alternator to Autozone and it failed all three of their tests. I was sold a new one and it turns out the old one was fine. By the time I found the problem (starter) the battery was still draining. I took it to Autozone (Optima Red) and told them the former owner bought it there and it was still under warranty. They charged for 2 hours and told me it was fine. I looked for the short for another week before I decided to have the battery tested again. This time a Advance Auto and O' Reillys. It failed in both places. It turned out the battery was purchased from O'Reillys who honored the warranty and replaced the $250 battery for free. I contacted the manager, Paul in the Wayland MI store and he told me he would make this right financially for the alternator and to give him a couple of days, he would call back. He never did and when I called him 5 days later he said that my problem was on the bottom of his stack of things to do. I told him I was very disappointed and would take my business elsewhere. I maintain 8 cars for my family and use to buy all my parts from Autozone. Never again

I am sorry that you feel that way. When you purchase a vehicle from someone , the warranty through Autozone is not transferable hence the meaning limited lifetime warranty.

How do you think a business can stay in business if they give away free items to everyone that never really purchased it in the first place?

Also Paul is a great store manager and I had the privledge and honor to work with him. If he says he will make it right he will make it right, these things take time and approval from the DM.

HOW TRUE. I will say that we were a little bit better than the others.

Then the greedy bastards that owned AI sold out to Advance Auto Parts. The pay sucks, the management sucks, and all the money is made by managers and corporate. To tell you how screwed up this company is and I'm talking about Advanced, they had AI open 40 stores in Florida and within two years they closed the 40 stores in Florida because they didn't know what parts that they use down there. All parts got sent back. At least one third of the parts were thrown out.

By the way they treat their store employees like ***, the same as they treat their warehouse employees. Autopart International in 2015 had a record profitable year and guess what they gave us.

Two slices of pizza and a $0.10 raise while the general managers and managers had excellent bonuses. Thanks for nothing you piece of *&%* company.

Autozone treats all their employees like *** because like and company they're all greedy. They get a lot of money and they give us a pat on the back.

Same thing goes for management. Store managers push for everyone below them to work hard and up sell everything so they get the nice bonuses every 3 months. When it comes for evaluations they give you a .10¢ raise and say that's all you get because my check wasn't as big as I thought it would be and its your fault. If I don't get compensated enough for working and I'm expected to work my *** off everyday, I ain't doing that ***.

They don't want unions to barge into the company because they don't want to increase our pay any more that .50¢ above minimum wage. Even though they say we don't have to work on people's cars if we don't want to, if we say we don't want to then they cut our hours. You can have a new hire with no automotive experience try to change out a simple wiper blade because he was forced to even though he didn't know how to do it because the managers said it's easy and he ends up breaking the windshield with the wiper arm(true story). So that means if it's pouring rain outside and some guy wants us to change a battery because he's too cheap to pay for it at a shop, we have to do it in the *** rain.

At least give us a garage for car work. On top of that, we can't accept tips even if they force us to take it. If we're caught getting a tip then were fired.

What kind of *** is that. They say don't take tips because you're helping them because you want to not because you have to for whatever reason...*** we have to do it or were not working.

Autozone Terrible Company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I work for this company however not for much longer. My position is as a Parts Sales Manager fulltime. It took 2 years to get there. Now my experience hasn't been all bad however I have a spinless store manager who when faced with a problem will completely shut down. This is not a good leadership quality.

My problem with the company first alarmed me when I saw 2 employees getting axed on hypothetical hearsay. This alarmed me but didn't worry me until about 2 months ago when I was asked about a returned part that they could not find. Everyone knows who has worked for Autozone knows that after a part is returned it goes into a cage and then goes back on a truck where I assume other employees sort it out. The part I returned set a red flag with LP because I returned it and noticed I did it as undamaged the part was used so I went into the managers menu to alter the PCI to damaged. The only option given was to void the PCI so I did that and really thought nothing of it. I was asked about it later and I explained it to my DM. then over 3 weeks went by and finally LP and my DM came to talk with me into their little makeshift room. Now anyone knows if LP shows up your job is pretty much gone and to remain silent. So thats what I did. When I was asked to sign an agreement for an interview I replied "I am not comfortable signing something without fully understanding what I am being accused of." So I refused to sign it and now they put me on paid suspension because they could not move forward with the interview. I apologized and told them both I don't want to make their job any harder but I just simply can't sign it.

My store manager told me they will be looking at it and calling it a fraudulent return.

The really messed up thing is I told them the truth and furthermore I work with a sheriff at a garage on the weekends and to call my integrity into question is grounds for slander. Especially since they cannot prove the circumstances surrounding the return. Did I make a mistake and void a PCI? Yes I am only human. Did I do a fraudulent return? No the customer got his money back as he had requested. Will I talk to LP about any of this. Nope because thats how companies like this work. They try to give you enough rope to hang yourself. Never speak to LP they are not there to help you. The company is paying them to get evidence to fire you and possibly convict you.

Now the kicker in the whole situation. The Store Manager along with everyone else who worked there gave my wife a NON-Autozone employee money from somewhere not sure how they got the money to come in and do plano's, inventory and a load of other stuff they didn't want to do. The whole time promising her a job with the company and to look at this time more as a training period.

Am I gonna use this? You can bet your rear end I am. So many witnesses who are not in autozones back pocket including 3 sheriffs will testify this happened. By going after me the little LP guy and the DM are gonna end up costing this company loads because what they did was bypass federal and state labor laws, taxation laws and basic human rights laws. under the guise of my wife being a prospective employees. The real kicker is my wife has a mental disability so now they were violating ADA laws as well. I think I will tack on the slander suit into my wifes case just to make Autozone pay more. And if Autozone thinks they can intimidate their employees to not talk I am not relying on testimony of them I am relying on testimony from several customers she helped at various hours of the day when the store was full of employees thus any lie told by any autozone employee would be perjury and punishable under law with a fine and some jail time.

Would I have used this if they would have just left me alone to do my job? Probably not. But anger will force your hand when it comes to messing with the way you live and calling my integrity into question.

The deceit alone is enough reason not to work for this company and when faced with a problem the people who you thought were your friends will turn their backs on you. And if you work for this company you should be worried. No matter how long you've been there if the DM gets bored and decides you need to go then you will be gone and the other employees will help him do it.

I already know not only is the laws they bypassed a big no no they are also a crime and the people who allowed it to happen can and will be indited on several felonious charges. So thank you autozone for making me angry enough to come after you. I'll see you in court.

I was in a AutoZone in Shreveport Louisiana tonite, only a couple customers there. The worker's had rap music which I already hate but the words (my ***) were in almost every sentence.

I was heavily offended by this and will never use AutoZone again even if theres no1 else. music? Fine, but that *** shouldn't be blasting through the store at any time. They lost a customer for life tonight.

Its an all black crew so there ya go. But, not the only reason for stopping my patronage, couldn't get waited on numerous times and its bad when they don't know what a part is. I even had to find it on the computer for this young guy. Apparently no training or mechanical background whatsoever.

So this is what its come to. I've known guys that knew what you needed and not even have to look it up and even knew the number of the parts. Thats who I'd be hiring. Someone that knows cars.

Oh well AutoZone, your loss, I buy alot of parts. Oriellys here I come and its just across the street.

Good thing I don't sue your *** for affending me with nasty rap. Or will I?

I'm a veteran of active duty Army for 8 years I was trying to seek employment at an autozone in Shelbyville Tennessee. I tried to get help with a previous application and was pretty much told to just wait 90 days and resubmit another. Not too bad now that company but the people that they hire have no clue about automobiles so I think I'm done purchasing or having any business with autozone.

Autozone Work Experience Review from Pretoria, Gauteng

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
If you're considering working here I would highly recommend that you do not, the pay is extremely low and the computer system that you must learn is extremely complicated you get one chance to learn it and if you don't learn your pretty much Sol, also they say the pay is based on experience but it's not, I have 12 years automotive experience and I still started out at minimum wage, also thought I was going to be hired for the parts counter turns out when you work there you do everything which includes parts counter and commercial accounts, I knew I would be answering the phones, but not for the commercial side of it they should hire somebody else for that, if I'm going to be doing practically everything in the store I should be making at least $10 an hour. Although the employees were extremely nice and friendly some of the best I've ever worked with but their computer system just made it extremely hard to work there with very little training, if I was properly trained I would definitely consider staying there I loved helping customers and teaching them about parts

They did not fit so I returned them. Was given a Auto Zone refund credit card for 80.00. Changing purses and wallets, I have lost it. I would much appreciate and new one sent me as I am owed a credit of 80.00 Recently went into get wipers and couldn't find card and was told basically My Loss.

There is no way for them to know if you used the card or not. They'll never issue a replacement card, so I'd keep looking through your "purses and wallets".

Surely your home can't be that large. You can't remember where you were? Did you look under furniture?

The only way you'll get the $80 is by finding the card.

By immediately blaming them, even I find it suspicious and I can't stand AZ.

How's this...pretend the $80 was CASH. Now do you see the difference? The CASH was not pot back into your credit out debit card.

It was put on an $80 piece of plastic. I'd say that'd be pretty important.

Heck, I won a free movie ticket and I know exactly where it is. $10 vs $80.

I'd have pot the $80 in my freezer or something.

You truly cannot blame them for your carelessness. I doubt you have the receipt from the card activation, but if you do, that *might* help. Otherwise, keep searching.

It was 100% your fault. You've got to face the facts.

I am an anti-autozone person all the way but that's a bit silly. Honestly lets just say that hypothetically I went into a store and paid for a gift card, and then through my own error, I lost it, do you honestly believe they should give me one?

Autozone has no way of cancelling a store merchandise card, it isn't a lost credit or debit card where it can be cancelled and reissued. However it's too bad you don't use the autozone I work in because I give people free things all the time! Personally I would have worked something out with you where you could pick $80 in merchandise and take it free. But the company doesn't want it that way.

Boycott Autozone everyone! I am an anti-zoner and everyone needs to take this company down!!!!!!

Don't blame them, blame corporate. When a phone rings, the employee has to answer the phone within 3 rings regardless if they're helping a customer.

If they don't help the customer on the phone immediately then they'll get in trouble. AutoZone is always understaffed (a total of up to 3 working at a time, except truck days when they stock the store) making the employees stressed during busy times.

You can find stores where there are customers waiting to be helped with the phones constantly ringing. Some customers in-store wants an employee to change a battery or do a diagnostics on their car.

Now each customer behind that person has to wait for an employee to change a battery which can take up to 30 minutes depending on the person replacing it. On top of that, AutoZone employees aren't required to replace batteries or do other courtesy services and when they refuse, customers get irate because they can't get a free service that they feel like they're entitled to.

If you ever complain about AutoZone, don't complain about the employees, complain about corporate not running their stores efficiently in a demanding market.

Guest

Just remember, when standing in line at a retail store, that YOU can see when the store is busy. The person at home cannot.

They will buy the parts from the place that answers the phone, and doesn't put them on hold for 15 minutes.

If a store is getting too high of call volume, the customer needs to complain up the chain to get more bodies in that store. Customer service is #1.

Guest

It's a policy to answer the phone first. The employees get tested on these calls because sometimes who ever is calling is someone in the higher ups from the company and they test their employees to see if you are actually helping the customer correctly or not. If you let the phone ring without picking it up, someone will get in trouble.

Guest

yes that is correct what they did . This is for you people that don't the standers in the auto parts industry .

It is not just AutoZone it is how it goes . We the customers at the store are already there so we are suppose to wait . It's the phone customer that takes is not there that they need to try and get into the store that comes first . Like I said that is the correct procedure they followed .

If we are in such a hurry to not understand that then maybe we need to shop for auto parts when we have enough time to shop . So don't blame AutoZone blame the auto parts industry that has that rule .

The only dude who works full time at my local auto parts store (which is sadly autozone) is this guy name Brett who should quite frankly, be fired yesterday. Not only does he have no knowledge of what the *** he's doing, but he won't even admit it! Matter of fact, he'll waste your time naming a bunch of bull items just to end up saying "we for actually have it in stock". I'm not basing this off one experience either. First encounter with this guy, i was looking for a very very simple thing- 5 ft of fuel line and a brass fitting. He took atleast 5 minutes trying to figure out what type of fuel line I was talking about (the kind that holds gasoline) then he disappeared for a while and retuned with the wrong part probably 3 times. Never did get the right line. He also couldn't figure out if I wanted a threaded or flared fitting (even though I specified) but of course, it ended up being out of stock anyway. That whole exchange took literally 1 1/2 hours for me to walk away with less than I came. Another day I came in looking for two sets of wiper blades. He was right by them, fiddling with something of complete unimportance to his job. Instead of helping me find blades he just told me to "look in the book" then took forever before he was ready to scan my items. The thing that just recently set me off... Went there looking for new spark plugs for my truck. Pretty basic thing for an auto parts store to have, right? After about 10 minutes on the computer, and after clicking on the wrong engine size category a few times, he got to a list of probably 15 spark plug varieties that autozone carries. I know this becuase he showed me the screen. Then he turned it away and scrolled through the page a bit. In the end they "somehow don't have any of them in stock here." Well if you ask me, he just didn't want to move his lazy self to go find them. Later that day, when I got home, I went onto autozone.com and set te store location as "my store" on Governor Richtie Highway. I went and looked at the plugs in stock there and low and behold, all but maybe 4 of the 15-some spark plugs were in stock. Brett your ignorance has wasted enough of my time, and probably other peoples time. It seems kind of like your stealing from autozone, getting paid to sit on your lazy *** I know autozone is terrible with customer service, but really this guy has to go.

To the DA with problem solved by throwing away the card, probably work for Auto-zone. I made a purchase and was told just under 3 dollars left to receive my 20.00 discount.

Drove down the road to buy new tires then seen on car service center only 142 miles to oil change.

Went back to get oil and filter then was told card shows 0 balance. So real solution to the problem shop at a different auto parts!!!

Autozone - Manager Review from Montgomery, New Jersey

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Currently work Autozone and its ridiculous. I have sold 2 thousand+ dollars worth of merchandise in a few hour shift due to being a short staffed busy store and selling skills helping people pick out the better batteries and such, this day sold 4 duralast gold batteries and various other items such as I believe 4-5 sets of gold brakes and the ******* store manager who sits in the back all day barely doing anything on his phone comes out and yells at me for not selling enough coc's and this happens on a daily basis. He has caused several people to quit, cannot make schedules work around peoples lives and is causing a previously sucessful store to fail by causing employees to become angry at the company in addition to paying poorly. Lower managers are great, friendly and hardworking as I am but upper management as well as the store manager are robots that do not understand anything besides useless coc's and widdtjr items that annoy customers, also, he doesnt approve of discounts, but lower managers and us give them anyway to bring back business to this store currently making 50-75% expected profit, also was on a 10:30-4:00 shift and wasnt allowed a break so went on phone to dominos app for a minute to order a pizza to store which has been done several times before (store empty) store mngr yelled at me and forced me off phone and said i signed contract to not be on phone at work (first time ever on it) meanwhile hes always on it, he said greyshirts are allowed to, so i wasnt able to eat, wrote me up for being a few minutes late several times even though every time i was late say 15 mins i would stay 30-1hr to get what had to be done because im that kind of person even if i dont get paid for the ot. Seriously fed up with him, all of us are and hope he gets fired before everyone good quits because if he doesnt go everyone else will.
